How to Change Name on Delta Ticket Online: Complete Guide
A passenger name on a flight reservation should match the name on the government-issued identification or travel document used for the journey. If you notice a spelling mistake, missing middle name, incorrect letter, or another name issue, you should address it before traveling.
To change a name on a Delta ticket, first determine whether you need a name correction or an actual legal name change. Minor corrections may be handled differently from legal name changes, and Delta tickets are for the named passenger and are generally not transferable.

Delta Name Change Policy: What You Need to Know
The Delta name change policy is not the same as simply changing a flight date or destination.
Delta's ticket rules state that tickets are valid for the named passenger and are not transferable. This means you generally cannot replace one traveler with a completely different person by simply editing the passenger name.
A name issue can instead involve a correction, such as:
Typographical errors
Misspelled first name
Misspelled last name
Missing or incorrect middle name
Name formatting issues
Legal name changes that require documentation
Delta's agency materials specifically instruct agents to book passengers using names matching passports or other valid travel documents and to follow Delta's name-modification and ticket reissue procedures when a correction is needed.

If the ticket contains a simple spelling mistake, the process may differ from changing your name after marriage, divorce, or another legal event.
Do not wait until airport check-in to discover a mismatch.

Confirmation number
Passenger's current ticket name
Correct legal name
Government-issued identification
Passport, if applicable
Any legal documentation required for the change
The exact process can depend on the circumstances of the reservation.
How to Change Name on Delta Flight Ticket
The search query how to change name on Delta flight ticket usually refers to correcting passenger information after the ticket has already been issued.
The most important step is to determine whether the requested change is a correction for the same passenger rather than a transfer to another person.
For example:
Incorrect: JON SMTHCorrect: JOHN SMITH
This is fundamentally different from changing:
JOHN SMITH → MICHAEL JONES
The second example attempts to substitute a different traveler, which is not the same as correcting the original passenger's name. Delta's published ticket rules state that tickets are not transferable.

Delta Name Change Fee: How Much Does It Cost?
The Delta name change fee can depend on the type of request and applicable ticketing rules.
Do not confuse a name correction charge with Delta's standard flight change fee. They are different issues.
Delta's current travel-planning information states that flight-change fees depend on the ticket and where the journey originates. Delta also notes that certain tickets can involve a fare difference when a booking is changed.
For name corrections specifically, Delta's agency policy materials show that certain name-change transactions can involve a fee, while exceptions or waivers may apply in specific circumstances.
Therefore, there is no single universal Delta name change fee that applies to every passenger and ticket.
Before paying anything, ask what type of correction is being processed and whether any additional ticket reissue or fare difference applies.
Delta Name Change After Marriage or Divorce
A legal name change is different from correcting a typing error.
If your legal name has changed because of marriage, divorce, court order, or another qualifying event, documentation may be required.
Keep the relevant legal document available and make sure your travel documents show the name you intend to use for travel.
The earlier you address the issue, the less likely you are to face problems close to departure.
Delta SkyMiles Name Change
The Delta SkyMiles name change process is separate from changing the passenger name on an airline ticket.
Delta's SkyMiles rules state that the name on a SkyMiles account should match the member's government-issued photo ID used for travel. Delta also states that legal name-change requests require supporting documentation and cannot be processed over the phone.
Delta's online booking information also explains that when a SkyMiles account name does not match the saved TSA Secure Flight name, eligible members may have a one-time opportunity to update the name online through My Profile.
Important distinction
SkyMiles profile name: Your frequent-flyer account information.
Ticket passenger name: The name associated with your specific flight reservation.
Updating one does not automatically mean that every existing ticket has been changed.

Can I Change Passenger Name on Delta?
The question how to change passenger name on Delta needs an important clarification.
A correction to the same traveler's name is different from transferring a ticket to another person.
Delta states that tickets are valid for the named passenger and are not transferable.
Therefore, if you accidentally entered the wrong spelling for yourself, address the correction. If you want another person to use your ticket, you should not assume a simple name edit will accomplish that.
What If My Delta Ticket Name Does Not Match My Passport?
Do not ignore the mismatch.
Delta's booking information states that the passenger name used for booking must match the Secure Flight full name provided to TSA and the government-issued identification used for travel.
If you discover a mismatch, review the reservation as soon as possible and determine what correction is required.
